Spillway Trail

We decided to check out the first trail that park staff recommended.

Spillway trail at Montgomery Bell State park is an easy half mile out and back. We started at the Warehouse trailhead.

The scenery is beautiful as the trail follows Will Hall creek through the lush, green forest.

The trail is very well defined and marked. You can pretty much always see two yellow trail markers like this so you know which way you are headed. The trail had some rocks and roots. Probably not flip-flop friendly, but we did fine in our sneaks.

We saw enough critters to keep everybody entertained. The most enchanting part of this hike were the plentiful fireflies buzzing around the forest floor, I just couldn’t get a pic to do those justice.

10/10 will hike again!
Kiddo asked for my camera and said “Mom, you love hiking so much that your sweat is heart shaped.” He knows me. So well.
