Inspired by my musical background and my own children’s first forays into learning to play music, I sat down and interviewed experienced musicians and teachers and designed materials that I believe are engaging, useful, and straight to the point.
We have created perfect, printable flash card decks for aspiring musicians of all ages. Flashcards are a proven memorization tool. Incorporate these cards into your practice sessions & watch as your speed and recall improve.
Chord Decks
Our expansion deck includes 36 more chords – Major 7, Minor 7, and Suspended 4th variations for each root note.
Chord Illustration Features
Each of our chord flashcards feature a large print, color-coded chord diagram on one side, and the name of the chord on the other. Each chord illustrations includes the following features:
- Suggested finger placement with numbered, color-coded dots
- Individual string voicing, which shows the note that the string is producing
- Scale degrees, which show the note’s position in the relative major scale
Music Note Decks
In addition, we have also created music note reading decks, which will help you memorize note locations on the first 12 frets of your instrument. Note reading decks also include cards for the 28 most common musical symbols you will encounter in printed music.
Printing Tips
These documents are formatted for maximum usability. Your purchase includes multiple instant-download PDFs. Choose whichever version best suits your needs.
- Four-Up Duplex Layout is designed for printers that are capable of printing on both sides of the page. This version saves on paper and cutting time.
- Single-Side Folding Layout is designed for printers that can only print on one side of the page. This version contains two cards per sheet. Cut around the outside of each card and fold in the middle.
These cards will print well on any standard US Letter-sized paper. Consider printing these high quality flashcards on heavyweight paper or card stock, or better yet, pick up a pack of NextDayLabels Perforated 3×5 card sheets from Amazon. Our cards are formatted to align with the perforations on these sheets, which will greatly speed up the trimming process.
For water-resistant cards of the highest durability, consider laminating the cards after trimming. I have had positive experiences using the Amazon Basics 9” Thermal Laminator for this and other print projects.
The laminator uses standard, letter size, plastic lamination sheets, such as the Amazon Basics Clear Thermal Laminating Plastic Paper Laminator Sheets. Four cards fit easily in each sheet, so you will only need a few lamination sheets to protect the entire deck.
