What’s a Stella Strata?
Stella and Strata are both Latin words, literally “Star” + “Layer”, and hopefully hinting at something of admirable quality. The back story is that the name was inspired by Heather’s great grandmother, Stella Stradling.
Heather promised her Grandma Bev (Stella’s daughter) that if she ever had a daughter of her own, she’d be named “Stella”. Instead, Heather was blessed with two stellar sons (and an LLC).
How’d all this kick off?
It all started with a little boy, a ukulele, and a mom who couldn’t sit still. When Heather’s son expressed an interest in learning the ukulele, she was delighted. She ran right out and bought him a ukulele, and looked high and low for a good chord chart to help him get started. The chord charts are the music store weren’t cutting it.
“I’ll find something online”, thought Heather.
She did not, in fact, find anything online. Heather set out to make a chord chart for her son that even Goldilocks would deem “just right”. A surprising number of iterations later, Stella Strata was born.
My muse performs for his C19-era 4th grade talent show in May, 2020. The chord sheets are working!
